White Muslims often fall into the trap of believing our faith absolves us of white nonsense. And we prove that sentiment wrong on the regular.
I mean, I couldn’t live without Islam. This path is the beginning and end of my story, it’s the guiding light of my weird complicated ducked up life. Most white Muslims I know feel similarly. But that doesn’t mean we’ve got access to play Dances with Wolves w/ the Ummah.
We need to be better. We need to shut up and listen far more than we speak. We need to never forget how we got to where we are, and the role our whiteness plays in our story. We need to hold our people accountable and stand against the racist, white supremacist bull that is our inheritance. We need to be better.
